Elon Musk's government efficiency team places staff in Justice Department
Former Tesla employee Tarak Makecha has been installed as a senior advisor to the FBI's executive assistant director for human resources, according to records obtained by The Intercept. Makecha also serves as an advisor to the Justice Department's Management Division, specifically within the office of the chief information officer. His appointment comes as part of President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, led by Elon Musk.
Makecha previously worked at Tesla from 2017 to 2019, most recently as head of strategic planning for Tesla Energy. According to sources, he has been working at various federal agencies since the beginning of Trump's second term, including the Federal Communications Commission, State Department, and Office of Personnel Management. A Justice Department source indicated Makecha began working there in late March, focusing partly on the department's grant-making operations.
